KNOW YOUR STRENGHT

KNOW YOUR STRENGTH

We live in a world of hyper-competition and ever increasing information. There are lots of companies, products, services and individuals competing for our attention, time and money. We are bombarded with information on a regular basis, but in the midst of the noise and turbulence, you will agree with me, if you take the pains to observe that some individuals, organizations, products and services stand out in the crowd. If you see a herd of sheep and one of them is red, that red sheep will definitely catch your attention because of its outstanding color.

To succeed in the 21st century, whether you are an organization or individual you must identify what makes you different from the rest and perfect it. It is your distinctiveness and the ability to connect with people and solve their problems that make you stand out from the crowd. Your unique strength is what is considered as your sword or weapon of war. You will be defeated if you do not know your weapon of war.

We live in a world that constantly suggests to us that focusing on a lot of things is the key to the vault of success. But that is a lie. For example some companies might start with the fast food business and when there is a little decline in sales instead of re-strategizing to boost sales they become apprehensive and start selling every other thing that they think will help them grow and consequently become a jack of contracting, recharge card sales, sale of clothes, etc., and are not known for a specific thing and are therefore a master of none. There is one thing that you can do better than a lot of people. That is what separates you; that is your core and you need time and patience to be a master at it.

As talented as Jay Jay Okocha is, he is not a good goal keeper. This is because goal keeping is not his area of strength. But put him in the place of his strength and all his capacity will become evident and in the process, the team benefits.
